Blue Öyster Cult (BÖC) est un groupe américain de hard rock, originaire de Long Island, New York. Leur style musical oscille entre le hard rock, le heavy metal, et le rock psychédélique. Leurs chansons à succès sont notamment (Don't Fear) The Reaper, Godzilla, Burnin' for You et Veteran of the Psychic Wars. Les clips du groupe, en particulier celui de Burnin' for You, sont fréquemment diffusés sur la chaîne américaine MTV après son lancement en 1981.

Violent et cruel dans les textes, BOC s'impose en 73 avec "Tyranny and mutation". Ils seront le "pendant" américain des Black Sabbath dont ils partageront la vedette lors de la tournée Black and Blue. Mais un parcours miné par les changements de personnel et des albums boudés par le public vont obliger le groupe a se remettre en cause.  Blue Oyster Cut se reforme en 96 autour de Bloom, Dharma et Lanier. L'album "curse of The Hidden Mirror semble renouer vers une originalité passée. Albert Bouchard a formé en 93 les Brains Surgeons avec sa femme.

Le 14 août 2013, Allen Lanier membre fondateur décède des suites d'une maladie pulmonaire  à l'âge de 66 ans.

Toujours en activité l'album "Ghost Stories" sortira en avril 2024 (Il s’agit d’un album d’anciennes chansons réinventées et récemment finalisées, allant de 1978 à 1983, à l’exception de « If I Fell » qui date de 2016. Certains morceaux sont issus de sessions de travail pour un album, d’autres de répétitions.)

Mott The Hoople fut l’un des plus grands groupes anglais des années 1970, pratiquant à ses débuts un rock influencé par The Rolling Stones et Bob Dylan, avant de profiter de la vague glam pour trouver le succès grâce à l’aide de David Bowie. Cet excellent groupe de scène fut un parfait passeur entre le rock des sixties et la génération punk, sur laquelle il exerça une immense influence. (UniversalMusic)
